How To Work In Your Strengths and Avoid Your Weaknesses

Smart leaders work from their strengths. In 2 Timothy chapter one, Paul is talking to his young protégé Timothy, he said “I was appointed a herald, apostle, and a teacher.” I remember reading that and thinking, “Wow. Paul knows his three things. What are my three things? What are three things I’m best at? What are the things that I’m not so good at? That’s important for you to know.

In this workshop, Mac Lake gives us some reasons why we end up working out of our weaknesses, how that affects us and the organization, and what steps you can take to start working from your strengths again.

Team Application Guide

I’m sure you’ve gotten a ton of great information from this video and a book full of notes so let’s get right to it! In this workshop, we are going to help you identify whether you are working in your strengths or your weaknesses, help guide you to better balance those things in your ministry career, and give you some resources to help you better understand your strengths.

To begin, have your team watch the video from Mac Lake and write down any observations or takeaways from what they hear. Then together as a team, meet together and go over the Team Discussion Questions below. After collaborating together and recording insights, have each member of your team answer the questions in the What’s Next section in order to begin creating an action step plan. Make sure to be specific and give yourself due dates!
