Preaching Masterclass

In this Masterclass, Lane Sebring, founder of PreachingDonkey.com is going to be sharing principles from his book called Preaching Killer Sermons: How to Create and Deliver Messages that Captivate and Inspire

The principles that he is going to talk about today are really derived from this book and he will give a high level view of three very important aspects of sermon delivery. There’s lots of different ways to look at sermon creation. There’s the preparation. There’s delivery. There’s evaluation. There’s conceptualizing where the sermon is going to go or where a series could go, but he will focus on 3 big areas of sermon delivery.

The first is a strong sermon opening. What does it take to have a really good strong sermon opening?

The second one is two things that you need to nail down for every sermon that you preach, and Lane will walk you through a process that he uses to do that.

And the third section, Lane will talk about mistakes to avoid when ending a sermon. How do you end a sermon in a way that’s effective and leaves people at a point of decision, rather than a point of boredom and wishing that it was over?

Team Application Guide

In this Application Guide, we will resource you with self evaluation questions for your sermon preparation as well as give you some printable worksheets to help you prepare for each message series and each teaching in that series. These worksheets will help you process through the recommendations given in the video each time you sit down to prepare your message.

To begin, take some time to watch Lane Sebring’s Masterclass video and make sure to take some notes. Then print off a copy of this Application Guide and begin to work through it on your own or share it with your teaching team if that applies to your church. Go through the Self-Assessment Questions first and then into the What’s Next section below. And don’t forget to download the sermon series preparation worksheets and start using them this week.

I must say, this is an incredible idea. The creative way that you display the information really keeps my attention.   I am already planning on showing at least one of these videos in our staff meeting each week so my entire team can learn some bite-size, practical information."
